  • 80 + 30 ml hazelnut spread like Nutella
  • 1 egg (large)
  • 15 ml flour (all purpose)
  • 15 ml cocoa powder
  • 5 ml icing sugar

  1. Spoon 80 mL (⅓ cup) chocolate spread in a medium-sized coffee mug and heat in microwave for 10 seconds to liquefy.
  2. Add egg to mug and stir vigorously with a fork. Incorporate flour, cocoa, and sugar. Add 30 mL (2 tbsp.) of chocolate spread on top of mixture and press down gently with a spoon.
  3. Cook in microwave on high for 45 seconds to 1 minute, or until top is firm, but still gooey. Keep an eye on mug during cooking to make sure it doesn’t overflow or overcook.
  4. Let cool for a few minutes. Top with a scoop of ice cream and chocolate chunks. Serve immediately.

Chef’s secret

 

Cooking time can vary depending on the microwave and mug size. Start with 45 seconds and heat in small intervals afterwards.

 

During cooking, the mixture will rise. Don’t worry, it’ll come back down.

 

Prepare this decadent dessert for two a few minutes in advance so it’s as moist as possible.
