  • 2 clove(s) garlic , minced
  • 1 onion(s) (medium), finely diced
  • 375 ml red wine

  • 500 ml diced tomatoes (canned and seasoned)
  • 1 leeks , cut into rounds
  • 30 ml of thyme , chopped and fresh
prep time
  1. Dredge beef cubes in flour. Heat oil in a large heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium-high heat. Sauté beef cubes for 3 or 4 minutes, stirring constantly.
  2. Add garlic and onion and continue sautéing for another 2 minutes. Pour in wine and scrape bottom of the saucepan to free cooking juices. Season to taste.
  3. Transfer to a slow cooker. Cook on low for 6 hours.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and continue cooking for 1 hour.

Chef’s tip
Don’t have fresh thyme? Replace it with 10 mL (2 tsp.) of dried thyme.
