  • 15 ml olive oil (1 tbsp.)
  • 1 onion(s) , chopped
  • 1 sweet pepper , cut in thin strips
  • 225 g lean ground beef (1/2 lb)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning , store-bought
  • 4 taco shells
  • Toppings
  • 125 ml cheddar or Monterey Jack, grated
  • 125 ml lettuce , shredded
  • 1 avocado , cubed
  • 1 mango , cubed
  • 2 tomatoes , cubed
  • 1 lime(s) , cut in wedges
  • 1 hot pepper chopped (optional)
  • To taste, sour cream
  • To taste, cilantro , fresh

  • 15 ml olive oil (1 tbsp.)

  • 225 g lean ground beef (1/2 lb)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning , store-bought

prep time
  1. Heat oil in a skillet and cook onion and sweet pepper for 3 to 4 minutes to soften.
  2. Add ground meat and cook until no longer pinkish.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning. Add water as needed and cook until completely evaporated. Set aside.
  4. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
  5. Place taco shells upside down on a baking sheet. Heat in oven for 3 to 5 minutes.
  6. Fill taco shells with meat mixture.
  7. Set toppings out on table and let guests help themselves.

Chef’s secret

You can make your own Mexican spice blend. Mix 30 mL (2 tbsp.) chili seasoning,

15 mL (1 tbsp.) ground paprika, 10 mL (2 tsp.) ground cumin, and 5 mL (1 tsp.) each

dried oregano and onion salt.
