  1. Melt chocolate according to package directions. Reserve.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Dip bread one slice at a time in egg batter, ensuring bread is soaked through.
  4. Melt half of butter in a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Place two slices of bread in the skillet and cook about 2 minutes per side, until golden. Reserve cooked French toast on a baking sheet in oven at 95°C (200°F). Repeat operation for remaining bread.
  5. Pour cream into a large bowl and beat with electric beaters on high speed until soft peaks form. Add sugar; beat until stiff peaks form.
  6. Top French toast with whipped cream and berries. Drizzle with melted chocolate and dust with icing sugar.

Nutrition tip

For a little crunch and more fibre, use multi-grain bread.

Chef’s tip

Short on time? Use commercial ready-made whipped cream.
